Lisa Behrendt, newly hired Director of People Development at The Douglas Company, has her mind set to strengthen the company's most important asset - its people. The road ahead calls for various talent management initiatives, skill building sessions and hands on training.

In this new position, Behrendt will focus primarily on building programs and processes that will help employees realize their full potential by developing key skills and leadership competencies. What does Behrendt have in mind for The Douglas Company? Some key goals include building a course catalog that supports business goals and objectives, establishing a leadership development program that helps Associates move through the different levels of management, strengthening the individual career planning process and enhancing existing training methods, to name a few.
“The desired outcome of any development initiative is to increase the success of the company through people,” said Behrendt when asked about the desired outcome of such programs. “Leadership and career progression initiatives ensure that the company is sustainable and that the next generation of leaders is ready to go when they are needed.”

Ms. Behrendt brings over 20 years of experience in people development, human resources, office management and consulting to the table. Most recently Behrendt held the position of HR Business Leader at a global architectural, engineering and construction management firm. Her key responsibilities included setting the development strategy for all domestic and international locations as well as building key training, development and leadership programs.
Behrendt has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources from the University of Toledo and she he obtained her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification in January of 2009.
