San Jose, CA, May 13, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is currently holding its 2nd annual “Out for Blood” Online Auction on eBay. The auction has received contributions from all over the Silicon Valley but most recently from a local Sunnyvale business. Toyota Sunnyvale’s general manager, Adam Simms, has agreed to donate a new 2007 Toyota Prius to the second phase of the charity event.

“Giving back to the community has been a big part of my life for several years now,” said Simms, “My son was diagnosed with cancer as a child, so I feel a strong connection to the cause. I picked The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society because about 75% of the Society’s expenses go straight towards research and patient services. A lot of organizations don’t give that much.”

The new 2007 Toyota Prius can be bought and shipped to anywhere in the 48 contiguous United States, also courtesy of Toyota Sunnyvale. The Prius is an emissions-free electic motor vehicle with excellenet gas mileage averaging 60mpg in the city and 51mpg on the highway.

This years online auction honors cancer patient Dana Berkow who lost his battle with acute myelogenous leukemia just last year. Dana’s wife, Fran, remembers his fight with cancer well, “Dana waged an uphill battle against this mysterious disease. While it would have been easy to give up or feel defeated, that wasn’t an option for Dana.” said Fran “He leaves behind a legacy that is carried on by the countless family and friends that continue to honor him by participating on his behalf in events dedicated to funding cancer research.”

The first phase of the auction which included San Jose Sharks tickets and other sports packages raised a total of $15,000. Now the second phase, including travel items and exciting experiences with some of Silicon Valley’s top executives, is anticipated to raise nearly $30,000! The auction benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families, You can view the “Out for Blood” Online Auction at www.ebay.com/outforblood where you can bid on items until May 16th.
