Pulse Energy – Delivering Energy Intelligence to Envision Charlotte
Vancouver, Canada, February 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Pulse Energy Inc., a leading energy management software company, today announced its role in Envision Charlotte: North America’s first community sustainability program to use real-time energy information to achieve behavioral savings. Pulse Energy’s advanced analytics and energy visualization technologies are an integral part of the award-winning initiative, which was recently recognized as a Project of the Year at DistribuTECH 2012.
Announced by Bill Clinton as part of the Clinton Global Initiative, Envision Charlotte aims to create the most environmentally sustainable urban core in the nation, using digital technologies to create awareness of energy consumption. The program has an ambitious target of 20% energy use reduction by 2016, of which 5% will be achieved by enabling behavioral changes.
These savings will be driven by Pulse-powered energy display kiosks and online dashboards, interactively engaging 82,000 office workers with real-time displays of downtown Charlotte’s energy usage. The interface, based on extensive behavioral research, adds insight to the data by prompting individual and team actions which contribute directly to community-level goals.
The Pulse platform that supports Envision Charlotte has been successfully deployed in other high profile efficiency campaigns including BC Hydro’s Continuous Optimization program, the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai. The City of Vancouver is collaborating with Pulse Energy to deliver innovative energy efficiency technologies to help the City to achieve its Greenest City Action Plan goals.
"I am proud that Envision Charlotte has chosen world-class technology developed by Vancouver-based Pulse Energy to help it become one of the most energy efficient cities in the U.S.," said Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson. "Pulse Energy's innovative partnership with Envision Charlotte demonstrates how cities around the world are achieving ambitious green goals while producing long term economic impact."
“The alliance between Charlotte’s political, business and community leaders is an innovation unto itself… At Pulse Energy, we’re pleased that our software is helping to save energy by educating and inspiring the people of Charlotte.” -David Helliwell – Pulse Energy co-founder & CEO
