Erin Go Bragh! British Open Pub Marks St. Patrick’s Day in Style
Scottsdale, AZ, February 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- British Open Pub wants Valley residents to put down that fake green beer this St. Patrick’s Day and join them instead for an authentic Irish holiday, complete with such Irish favorites as a bagpipe and drum corps, Bushmills drink specials and corned beef and cabbage to celebrate the Irish holiday.
But you don’t need to be Irish to enjoy the pub’s special menu for the day or to sample the drink specials, which include $1 off all well, wine and domestic beers as well as $4 Bushmills “Irish Car Bombs.”
The Glendale Pipe and Drum Corps will spend the day at the British Open Pub, playing two sets of their traditional Irish music for Bop patrons. The evening’s show times are between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
And the menu for the day is a British Open Pub specialty – Mom’s homemade corned beef and cabbage with colcannon (cabbage and onion mixed in along with parsley and kale), Stovies (rough mashed potatoes with corned beef and covered with melted cheese), Scotch eggs (hardboiled eggs encased in sausage, rolled in bread crumbs and deep-fried) and chicken and whiskey sauce (breast of chicken sautéed in a cream and Drambuie sauce) and served with a side of pasta.
“When you combine the food with our drink specials and the pipe and drum band, you could close your eyes and swear you were in Ireland,” said British Open Pub owner Gregg Troilo.
Voted one of the five best English pubs in the Valley in the 2011 Phoenix New Times “Best of Phoenix” readers roll, the “BOP” as regulars call it, has something for everyone. Whether it’s authentic English food like Bangers and Mash, traditional American comfort food, a massive selection of beers from around the world or simply a fun pub to watch the day’s biggest sporting events, the BOP is the spot for foodies and sports fans – especially on St. Patrick’s Day.
The British Open Pub is located at 1334 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona, on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and McDowell roads.
