Louisville Calligraphy & Art Announces Classes
Jan Hurst of Louisville Calligraphy & Art announces an upcoming series of classes sponsored by the Arts Council of Southern Indiana. These classes will be held at the YMCA in New Albany, Indiana and will be taught by Hurst, an award winning artist and calligrapher.
Louisville, KY, February 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Arts Council of Southern Indiana is sponsoring a series of art and calligraphy classes to be held at the Floyd County (IN) branch of the YMCA at 33 State Street in New Albany.
On February 4th and 11th there is a two-part greeting card and Valentine class from 2 - 6 pm each of those Saturday afternoons. Participants will make a variety of cards from kits prepared by the instructor, artist/calligrapher Jan Hurst. No supplies are required, and each participant will go home with eight to twelve unique completed cards. Cost of the class is $60.
On February 16th and 17th Hurst will teach an Accordion Books Workshop from Noon-4 pm each day. Participants will paint beautiful papers and incorporate them into small books. Cost for the two-day class: $60. Some supplies are required.
On Febraury 21st, also from Noon-4 pm, Hurst will teach an Introduction to Calligraphy class. Students will learn how to use a dip pen and will learn basic letter forms. Cost for the session is $40, and it is a pre-requisite for calligraphy courses to be offered in March and April. Some supplies are required.
On March 1st and 2nd, Hurst will teach a new workshop she is calling Paper Batik. Get the look of batik on paper. Participants will create decorative papers that are perfect for greeting cards, accordion books and other art projects - or simply for framing. This class is also from Noon-4pm and costs $60. There is a supply list.

Jan Hurst is an award-winning artist and calligrapher, residing in southern Indiana. She has taught many classes and workshops and has displayed her works at regional galleries and art shows, including St. James Court Art Show in Louisville, and Art in Speed Park in Sellersburg, IN.
