Love is in the Air: Bridge Walk Proposal at 851 Feet
A visit from a Pennsylvania couple to West Virginia's newest attraction, Bridge Walk 851 feet above the New River Gorge leads to a "yes" from Kolby Alsono to fiancee Ryan Shoplick after he proposes 851 feet above the river.
Fayetteville, WV, February 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The New River Gorge’s newest attraction, Bridge Walk, offers visitors excitement, stunning views, historical facts and a chance to “engage” ... literally. Two recent Bridge Walk guests used the unique catwalk as a place to get down on one knee the old fashioned way and propose marriage. Ryan Shoplick of Washington, PA and his girlfriend of four years, Kolby Alsono became engaged 851 feet above the New River during their tour on the famous catwalk tour.
Shoplick planned his Bridge Walk adventure with the idyllic scene in mind. Halfway through the tour, near the center of the iconic arch, he paused, got down on one knee and popped the question. Other members of the tour waited a short distance away and got their answer. “She said yes!” echoed through the canyon after Alsono accepted the proposal.
Alonso and Shoplick are not the first to confirm their engagement or celebrate in southern West Virginia this year. Bridge Walk officials cited 2 couples on honeymoon, 3 celebrating anniversaries and another engagement in the area as part of their visitor list this past summer. “The ability to see a panoramic view of the Gorge and river underneath one of the highest bridges in the United States is breathtaking. We are honored that couples have chosen it as a romantic vista to celebrate and engage!”
Bridge Walk has been offering tours under the New River Gorge since September of 2010. Guided tours are available daily and run throughout the year. For available times and reservations call 304 574-1037.
