A featured workshop on Disaster Recovery explores an integrated methodology for communications recovery. This describes a phased approach, starting with satellite communications, and transitioning to airborne relays. These would be gradually brought lower down to substitute for damaged infrastructure and to re-establish ground communications for normally used terminals and handsets while increasing spatial capacity. The workshop will have sessions addressing the public safety perspective, present approaches, platforms, operations, and advanced solutions and a round table discussion on next steps.
Workshop speakers include Daniel Devasirvatham (SAIC) Chair of the Hybrid Reference Architecture Task Group, Terry Hall (Association of Public Safety Communications Officials), Stewart Potter (Harris Corporation), Robert Schutz (Datron World Communications Inc.), Fabio Casalino (Selex ELSAG), John B. Munoz Atkinson (INMARSAT), Tom Eidenschink (ViaSAT), Jerry Knoblach (Space Data), Daniel Boudreau (Communications Research Centre (CRC)), Brian Hobson (SPAWAR), Clark Tompsett (State of NM), James Neel (Cognitive Radio Technologies), and Rick Rotondo (xG Technology, Inc.).
Registration is open to members and non-members. The earlybird meeting registration discount expires February 17. The Forum has reserved a room block at the hotel hosting the meeting, Holiday Inn San Diego - On the Bay. Reservations for the block may be made from the meeting web page.
