Dr. Jeffrey Todd Smith is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Birmingham, AL, February 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Dr. J. Todd Smith is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in orthopedic spine surgery. Having completed his training in spine surgery during his residency with Dr. Steven Tice, Dr. Smith obtained his board certification (spine tract) from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Smith trained extensively both nationally and internationally in spine surgery, including instruction with Dr. Dan Riew in St. Louis, and Dr. Jurgen Harms in Heidelberg, Germany. Over the course of his career, Dr. Smith has maintained membership in the North American Spine Society (NASS), and the international AO Spine Society (both memberships consisting of orthopedic spine as well as neurosurgeons), and has served on the faculty staff of AO Spine, instructing both surgical specialties on emergent surgical techniques. Dr. Smith has also served as faculty staff for the Medtronic Spine Division teaching minimally invasive surgical courses to groups of orthopedic spine and neurosurgeons, has collaborated on the development of interbody spinal fusion devices and associated instrumentation, and has served on the Lifelink National Bone Bank Advisory Board. For over 13 years, Dr. Smith has maintained a successful practice of both general orthopedic and orthopedic spine surgery, largely focusing in the workers compensation arena.
