Go to the Vegetarian Festival, Win a One-Week Vegan Sailing Vacation
New York, NY, February 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- “Vegan” isn’t just about eating anymore. It applies to clothing, bath products, stationery items, and now even sailing the seas.
With the second annual New York City Vegetarian Food Festival just one month away, organizers announced recently that all festival-goers will have a chance to enter a raffle in which the top prize is a week-long sailing charter donated by Vegan Sailing Vacations. The adventure will take place aboard the 53-foot yachtBel Ami as it plies the turquoise waters and trade winds of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Sounds like paradise, but what makes it vegan? Captain Dave Goodman and first-mate Annie Nayer serve up only the best gourmet vegan cuisine featuring local ingredients, garnered from visits to ports of call along the way. When guests return from their afternoon snorkels, they may be met with Italian chickpea nibbles, creamy white bean and artichoke dip and crudités along with cocktails. Dinner might encompass vegetable curries and brown rice, lentil soup, and whole wheat pasta.
The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival is produced under the auspices of U.S. Veg Corp, a Brooklyn-based company. In addition to the raffle, the Festival will feature 100 vendors, all showcasing products which are vegan, healthful, and environmentally friendly. There will also be animal welfare information tables, live entertainment, children’s activities, cooking demos, top-shelf speakers, book signings, and thousands of free food samples.
The Festival’s first edition took place in April 2011. That event was over-subscribed, with hundreds of people waiting up to 3 hours to enter the festival grounds. In an attempt to alleviate the overcrowding, the 2012 version will be spread over two days instead of one, will sport double the exhibition space, and will charge a nominal general admission price ($5). VIP passes and other special admission packages will be offered as well.

125 West 18th Street
(Between 6th and 7th Avenues)
