AH-H-H-H - "How to Communicate with Difficult People" Workshop Reveals Tips and Techniques for Greater Harmony in the Workplace
Sue always responds with a frown. Frank doesn't respond at all. Mary acts as the go-between. Sound familiar?
Chestnut Hill, MA, May 16, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The "How to Communicate with Difficult People" workshop reveals tips and techniques for greater harmony in the workplace. Two separate workshops will be held on Tuesdays, May 22 and June 5, from 8 - 10 a.m. at the office of Calmas Associates, 62 Fairway Road, Chestnut Hill, Mass., 02467.
Led by Dr. Wilfred Calmas, MBA and Ph.D. and president of Calmas Associates, the workshop provides specific strategies to greatly improve communication at work and manage people problems such as tardiness, procrastination, gossip, absenteeism, etc. Workshop participants are encouraged to share information about their most difficult co-workers.
The workshop costs $79, is limited to 10 and is by reservation only. To reserve a seat, please contact Calmas Associates, (617) 277-9244, Wcalmas@aol.com.
"The problem is that many managers and mid-managers tend to only criticize and punish," noted Dr. Calmas. He continued, "This creates an environment of fear and establishes a communication barrier. Staffers become defensive, then productivity and creativity gets stifled. Employee turnover becomes the norm."
He concluded, "Like athletes, business people need coaching to achieve greater success. Athletes want to be coached to become winners. Executives, entrepreneurs and managers resist being coached and in turn, do not understand how to coach their staff who are looking for ways to excel at their jobs, to work up to their potential and to remove the obstacles to their success."
Dr. Calmas has worked with a broad range of clients, including New York Life, Merrill Lynch, Mazonson and Oppenheimer. He has developed programs for increasing productivity, reducing employee turnover and resolving conflicts between staff members.
