Cooking Up Lotion at Value Fair Market

Saint Petersburg, FL, February 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Most people view a kitchen appliance as a means to an easier dinner but not JoAnna Gilford of Shea Sensations. "The first thoughts that pop in my head are: Can I make lotion in that?" She grins, "Or, can I make soap in that? Most of the kitchen appliances I have are dedicated to soap and lotion making. They have never been used for food."

Mad Science and passion is what inspired her to start lotion making demonstrations at a local bazaar in Saint Petersburg, FL. "I'm so passionate about natural skincare, I sometimes think it consumes me and when you are passionate about something, you have to share it with other people."

Shea Sensations is a result of that passion. Twelve years ago she began making soap and lotion to relieve her own dry skin. Using her friends as testers, she eventually developed a mild, natural skincare line of soap, lotion, balm and facial cleansers. She experimented so often with unusual ingredients she earned the family nickname of "Mad Scientist."

"I am a mad scientist at heart," Ms. Gilford says. "When you learn by discovery like I did, you really don't know what will work until you try it. I love sharing my experiences with other people, so I'm looking forward to hosting these lotion demonstrations."

Value Fair Market had recently been featured in the Tampa Bay Times for hosting the first gourmet food truck rally in Saint Petersburg, FL. An event that encouraged Ms. Gilford to take a second look at the venue even though they are new and still small.

"It's obvious to me the management at Value Fair want to attract local, quality businesses." she says, "I Love flea markets but really, how many knock off handbags do you need? I believe Value Fair Market is going to grow and become a premium shopping location for handcrafted, artisan merchandise."

Shea Sensations' next scheduled lotion making demonstration is Feb. 11, 2012. From 11 am to 6 pm, Ms. Gilford will be making lotion, answering questions and inviting people to make their own bottle.
