Shelter Dogs in Los Angeles Area Receive Pet Food Donation from Purina® Pets for People (TM)
Thousands of pounds of dog food donated to local animal shelters and rescue groups will allow them to save more lives.
Los Angeles, CA, February 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On Friday February 10th, twenty animal shelters and rescue groups from the Los Angeles area will gather in Lucerne Valley to fill their trucks and trailers with cans of Pro Plan® dog food donated through Purina®’s Pets for People™ program.
The 34,000 pounds of donated food will help feed more than 1550 dogs cared for daily by these 20 organizations. Food donations from Pets for People ™ make it possible for shelters and rescues to spend their precious resources saving more lives.
“These food donations mean the world to our dogs – they enable us to do more for them,” says Connie Kramer, Executive Director of Beagles & Buddies, a non-profit animal rescue group based in El Monte. “All rescues push to do the utmost for our rescued animals...we must feed good food to the dogs, and no rescue group can afford to buy it retail.”
This donation distribution was arranged by Animal Services and Assistance Programs Inc. (A.S.A.P.) in partnership with Purina®’s Pets for People™ team. These organizations work together year-round to provide and distribute truckloads of donated pet food and supplies to animal shelters and rescue groups. For more information about the program, visit www.petsforpeople.com.
A.S.A.P. is the nation’s first and largest 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of its kind, providing food and supplies to over 5000 shelters and rescue groups across the U.S., Puerto Rico and St. Croix; visit their website at www.ASAP-USA.org. Purina®’s Pets for People™ initiative has been supporting animal welfare organizations since 1984, and provided meals for almost 137,000 shelter animals in 2011.
