SVP Giles Slated for Barbados; High-Level Meetings to Address Solar Energy Needs
Toronto, Canada, February 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Solamon Energy Corp. is proud to announce SVP Christian Giles is returning to Barbados on Tuesday for this, his third trip in less than a year to the Eastern Caribbean island since joining the Solamon team. Originally it was anticipated he would be joined by President Jay Yeo on location, but he is now attending to developing opportunities in the Western Caribbean. Throughout February Giles is scheduled to meet government officials and business executives in Barbados, as well as senior administrators within the regulatory body and utility.
“Many of the outcomes expected include simple proof that the sun’s rays can be converted to electricity,” says Giles. “We are working closely with local partners to develop custom solutions for several business owners. With the acceptance of solar water heaters across the island, it’s no surprise our technology has received such a positive welcome in Barbados and during this creative process, the design and engineering phases, there are many options to consider, which I’m happy to present personally.”
After studying the island’s topography, in general it is agreed there is unlikely enough land available to create the Caribbean’s largest solar farm in Barbados. “But we can certainly build an array big enough to power a factory, hospital wing or university,” Giles adds. “I will outline and we will discuss many numerous issues and possible outcomes. It’s not rocket science, though there is a science to a determining efficiencies, and therefore maximizing each system’s output and of course whether it’ll be grid-tied or not.”
Most recently Giles headed the Solamon internal technology review team charged with the responsibility of recommending a primary solution to solarize partners’ parking lots, ideal for the local shopping mall, airport or university campus. He will showcase his findings over the course of several weeks to leaders in Barbados, prior to flying back to San Juan in Puerto Rico or Managua, Nicaragua.
Solamon Energy typically offers a ground-mounted solar array of integrated photovoltaic cells over 5 acre packages of land, which is called the Apollo Acre™. The company now also designs and installs custom solutions with local partners to provide roof-mounted and parking lot systems that are easily augmented by micro wind turbine technology and other innovative features.
About Solamon: Solamon Energy Corp. sells integrated arrays of ground-mounted and rooftop photovoltaic cells. These solar power plants are connected by cable to varied transmission equipment, including converters, inverters and batteries, utilizing 5 acres of land per unit; each unit is called an Apollo Acre™. Additionally, it is expected the company’s business activities will spin-off many jobs locally, given engineering requirements, construction, unit commissioning and subsequent maintenance.
