Arena North America and SKINS International Select French/West/Vaughan as Agency of Record

Two Globally-recognized Athletic Brands Join FWV’s Sports Practice

Raleigh, NC, February 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Bolstering its ever-expanding roster of sports properties, French/West/Vaughan (FWV) has been chosen by two globally-recognized athletic brands, Arena North America and SKINS International, as public relations agency of record for each.

FWV is partnering with Arena North America, the brand of choice among elite swimmers worldwide for nearly 40 years, to enhance awareness of its line of high-performance swimwear. Headquartered in Tolentino, Italy, parent-company Arena International recently chose to open a new wholly-owned North American subsidiary in Portland, Oregon as part of its plan to expand its position in the U.S. market.

Arena’s ties to the swim world are reinforced through sponsorships at various competitive levels, including governing bodies, national federations, clubs and athletes. Janet Evans, a four-time Olympic champion and one of the greatest distance swimmers of all-time, recently signed an endorsement agreement with the brand. Evans will act as ambassador for both Arena and the Arena-sponsored SwimAmerica program. SwimAmerica, a national learn to swim program operated by the American Swimming Coaches Association, recently joined forces with Arena for a five-year sponsorship.

Evans joins several other leading American swimmers as part of the Arena team, including Olympic and world champion breaststroker, Rebecca Soni, recently retired Olympic and world champion backstroker, Aaron Peirsol, and Olympic breaststroker, Eric Shanteau.

“We’re excited to be expanding our presence in the U.S. market with a high-caliber agency like FWV that truly understands swimming and the world of sports,” said Tim McCool, vice president of Arena North America. “FWV’s expertise in working with swim brands and high-profile athletes will be invaluable to the entire Arena team, as we prepare for this summer’s Olympic Games.” FWV has previously handled public relations and marketing assignments for both the Speedo and Jantzen swimwear brands.

FWV will also be providing PR support for the athletic apparel brand, SKINS International. SKINS, a global leader and innovator of gradient compression technology, manufactures compression performance wear, which is scientifically proven to increase an athlete’s strength, power and endurance, as well as aid in recovery from strenuous activities. By providing the right compression at key points throughout the body, the line of men’s and women’s compression garments accelerate blood flow – delivering more oxygen to active muscles and re-circulating lactic-acid, improving performance and reducing exercise induced muscle damage. In addition to fitness enthusiasts, the brand is worn by top-tier athletes around the world, including golfer and U.S. Open champion Rory McIroy, the Austrian Olympic ski team, the U.S. Olympic cycling team, leading triathletes and numerous NFL and NBA players.
