Valley Singles to Celebrate Valentine’s Day with St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Party at British Open Pub

Scottsdale, AZ, February 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- For those Valley singles whose love lives resemble a massacre more than a movie romance, Scottsdale’s British Open Pub has just the ticket this year – a St. Valentine’s Day Massacre party at the popular Scottsdale pub.

Traditionally, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre is known as the 1929 mob hit of seven associates as part of a prohibition era conflict between two powerful criminal gangs in Chicago: the South Side Italian gang led by Al Capone and the North Side Irish gang led by Bugs Moran.

But Valley singles can party like prohibition-era bar flies during British Open Pub’s St. Valentine’s Day Massacre party and keep that sad sack, lonely heart sorrow at bay with themed drinks and meals that hearken back to the happy days of flappers, hip chicks, mad mobsters and juicy gin joints.

“Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Valentine’s Day,” said Gregg Troilo, owner of the British Open Pub. “Our love lives may be in shambles but we’re making a party of the day anyway.”

The drink specials for the day include the Valentine’s Day Massacre Martini, a chocolate covered raspberry martini $9; the Marilyn Monroe, (for her role as Sugar in Some Like It Hot, Hollywood’s famous comedic nod to the prohibition era) a pinnacle-whipped cream vodka, Kahlua, and soda water $6; and Dodging Cupid’s Arrow, a chilled 3 Olives birthday cake vodka, topped with whipped cream and sprinkles $5.

Food specials include:

The Capo di Capi (Pasta Marimonte) - Feeling like a big-shot? Order the Capo di Capi, and like the leader of all leaders or boss of bosses, you’ll dine in style. This Pasta Marimonte dish includes delicious sautéed shrimp, mushrooms, sausage, onions, and peppers served over a bed of pasta, with garlic bread. $10.95

La Cosa Nostra - Order La Cosa Nostra and, like the phrase says, you’ll get “the our thing” – the thing they’re famous for, English-style fish and chips served up crispy and hot. $10.95

The 18th Amendment - Put the 18th Amendment (Prohibition) to rest with this dining special. This Appetizer Plate features four cream cheese-filled jalapenos, four egg rolls, four salmon fingers, for just $7.95.

Every day is a holiday at British Open Pub, with a revamped and extended happy hour that now includes specials like new $3 well drafts on rotating taps, including Guinness, Smithwick’s Ale, Deschutes Black Butte Porter, Stella, Kilkenny, SanTan Hefe, Boddingtons Pub Ale, Strongbow Apple Cider, Bud Light and Lagunitas’ IPA, among others.

On Saturdays, from 8 p.m. to close, women can enjoy ladies’ night with $5 Stoli vodkas in a variety of flavors, including vanilla, blueberry, strawberry, peach and chocolate raspberry. The bar also offers two martini specials each week for $5 each.

Scottsdale’s British Open Pub, or the “BOP” as regulars call it, has something for everyone.

Whether it’s authentic English food like Bangers and Mash, traditional American comfort food, a massive selection of beers from around the world or simply a fun pub to watch the day’s biggest sporting events, the BOP is the spot for foodies and sports fans.

The British Open Pub is located at 1334 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona, on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and McDowell roads.
