Airtronics Metal Products Receives 2012 Industry Award

Rockford, IL, February 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Airtronics Metal Products Inc. (AMP), a sheet metal fabricator based in San Jose, Calif., has received The FABRICATOR’s Industry Award 2012, presented by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Intl. (FMA). The FMA award is bestowed upon an individual or company within the metal forming and fabricating industry that has successfully improved operations, attained business success, and contributed to both the local and industry communities.

The FABRICATOR’s Industry Award 2012 will be presented to AMP in a ceremony during The FABRICATOR’s Leadership Summit, which begins Feb. 29 at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale (Phoenix), Ariz.

“This award recognizes those individual leaders and companies who consistently optimize business practices, promote manufacturing in their communities, and exemplify success in daily operations,” said Edward Youdell, President and CEO of FMA. “Manufacturing is the heartbeat of America, and we’re proud to honor Airtronics Metal Products as an industry success story.”

Founded in 1960, Silicon Valley-based Airtronics Metal Products is an established supplier to the semiconductor and networking industries. With more than 100,000 operational square feet, the foundation of AMP’s success begins on the factory floor. Modern machinery, automated technology, and control systems afford optimal productivity and plant monitoring. The addition of the newest generation of high-production lasers is expected to increase production by 25 percent.

Workplace safety is of equal importance. An outside consultant routinely performs environmental, equipment, and shop floor safety inspections. Employees receive comprehensive preparedness training in chemical handling, hazmat waste disposal, communication, and first aid/CPR certification.

Opening a new door for business growth is AMP’s recent ISO and AS certifications which will permit expansion into the medical device and aerospace industries. A surge in Silicon Valley’s green-tech business start-ups has elevated its presence in the solar and electric vehicle markets as a preferred sheet metal provider. In 2011, the company launched a new subsidiary, Metal Gourmet, to assemble and distribute mobile food carts and trailers to entrepreneurs and the restaurant trade.

AMP’s community outreach includes partnerships with the engineering departments at Stanford, Santa Clara, and San Jose Universities. Students and professors routinely tour the facility, and the company regularly gives presentations and provides design assistance to students.

As the winner, one company representative and one guest receive complimentary registration, travel, and hotel accommodations to The FABRICATOR’s Leadership Summit. Airtronics Metal Products also will be featured on the cover and as the cover story in the February 2012 issue of The FABRICATOR, North America’s leading magazine for the metal forming and fabricating industry.

“Airtronics Metal Products is an organization of smart, committed people who are focused on achieving great success,” said David Brambert, group publisher of FMA Communications Inc. “They don’t just talk about competing; they are innovatively expanding into brand-new markets and doing it extremely well. They are a company that is willing to take chances and create new opportunities, and every metal fabricating shop, as well as every manufacturer, can learn and be inspired by their story.”
