Chicago Tube & Iron Receives 2012 Industry Award

Rockford, IL, February 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Chicago Tube & Iron (CTI), a custom manufacturer and distributor of tubular components and assemblies located in Romeoville, Ill., has received TPJ’s Industry Award 2012 presented by TPJ-The Tube & Pipe Journal® and sponsored by the Tube & Pipe Association Intl. (TPA). The TPA award is bestowed upon an individual or company within the tube and pipe fabricating and producing industry that has successfully improved operations, attained business success, and contributed to both the local and industry communities.

The TPJ Industry Award 2012 will be presented to CTI in a ceremony during The FABRICATOR’s Leadership Summit, which begins Feb. 29 at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale (Phoenix), Ariz.

“This award recognizes those individual leaders and companies who consistently optimize business practices, promote manufacturing in their communities, and exemplify success in daily operations,” said Edward Youdell, president and CEO of FMA. “Manufacturing is the heartbeat of America, and we’re proud to honor Chicago Tube & Iron as an industry success story.”

With nearly 100 years in the steel business, CTI’s success can be credited to a culture fervently focused on daily operations, safety, customer service, and community education. CTI designed every one of its 10 U.S. facilities to maximize material and work flow. The company performs regular audits to check product quality and to ensure optimal production.

Consistent training and emphasis on employee and shop safety practices have led to a 50 percent drop in workplace accidents over four years and a 75 percent reduction in accident-related costs. By combining its manufacturing and distribution operations, CTI not only provides efficient delivery solutions for its customers, but has acquired long-term business contracts as a result.

With nearly a century in business, CTI’s presence has naturally given way to support of local education. It offers employee tuition reimbursement, summer internships, and sponsorship of a practical engineering class at the local middle school.

As the winner, one company representative and one guest receive complimentary registration, travel, and hotel accommodations to The FABRICATOR’s Leadership Summit. Chicago Tube & Iron also will be featured as the cover story of the March 2012 issue of TPJ-The Tube & Pipe Journal, an international trade journal for manufacturers that produce or use metal tube and pipe.

“Chicago Tube & Iron has earned the award through its innovative approach to new business development, having a great team deliver on its commitments, and its dedication to the community,” said David Brambert, group publisher of FMA Communications Inc.

Based in Rockford, Ill., FMA is a professional organization with nearly 2,300 members working together to improve the metal processing, forming, and fabricating industry.
