Scores.fm Joins the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA)
Jerry Garner, Executive Director of Scores.fm, has enlisted the company as a voting member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), a broadcasting and journalism trade organization focused on those that provide sports related content and programming.
Little Rock, AR, February 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Scores.fm ( www.scores.fm ), a publishing and broadcasting venture based in Little Rock, Arkansas, has announced it’s membership in the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), a trade organization based in Salisbury, North Carolina. Membership in the organization represents the first of several moves the company has planned to become a larger player in both the publishing and broadcasting industries.
Scores.fm is an Internet publishing and broadcasting company started in 2010 by Jerry Garner. The company disseminates sports news and information to fans around the world via it’s Internet website, and also broadcasts a 24/7 radio station via the web and mobile apps. The company has plans to expand it’s media holdings to printed magazines and terrestrial radio broadcasts in 2012.
As part of a planned strategy to gain a reputation of legitimacy in the sports journalism community, the company has joined the NSSA. Membership in the NSSA will provide Scores.fm with networking opportunities with others involved in sports broadcasting and journalism, expand the company’s media credentials, and give the company a voting voice in multiple sports awards.
“It’s always nice to form business relationships with your peers in business, especially those who are more experienced and knowledgeable, but the voting is honestly one of the more exciting aspects to being a member of this organization,” Jerry Garner, Executive Director of the company said in a written statement.
Members of the NSSA serve as a voting body for multiple voting awards, including the annual Bear Bryant College Football Coach of the Year award, and both the monthly and annual awards for the Hickok Belt Award.
In addition to the networking and voting benefits of joining the NSSA, Scores.fm also believes it will serve as a sign to others in the industry that the company is more than an Internet website and has a plan in place to become a dominant player in the sports media industry. Other steps will also be taken in the near future as the company works through strategic moves to position itself in the market.
“Obviously, we want to keep some aspects of our plan secret,” Garner continued to state, “but some aspects we are open about are plans to relocate our headquarters to Las Vegas, where we will begin over-the-air radio broadcasts, as well as plans to begin publishing print media later in the year.”
More announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
