Slotting identifies the most efficient placement of each item (SKU) in a warehouse. SLOTTING can be optimally used in the warehouses where SKU’s managed are in large numbers and business where SKU’s stored is changed frequently as per seasonal demand.

Slotting feature makes sure that the items picked the most often are stored in the shelf area closer to the dock doors. Items with less demand due to seasonality or some other reason, are placed farther from the dock doors. This reduces the travel time required to pick frequently picked items and increases the productivity of labor force. Besides, popular items are allocated more number of shelf areas and are spread through out the storage area to avoid crowd/ clutter at the time of order picking. Slotting feature supports different algorithm of location management to suit different warehouse operations.

Replenishment and Restocking modules are well integrated to support slotting feature. They make sure that shelves/ locations are never empty. DCMS supports real time technology, hence moment the inventory on shelves reaches at some minimum level, DCMS alert the concerned staff for necessary replenishment process. It generates instructions for pulling items from reserve storage area and fills shelves in forward pick area.
