Eskom’s Brian Dames to Deliver Opening Address at African Utility Week in May
Johannesburg, South Africa, February 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Eskom has confirmed that its CEO Brian Dames will deliver the opening address at the annual African Utility Week conference and exhibition on 22 May in Johannesburg. The event, which runs from 21-24 May at the Nasrec Expo Centre, which will once again gather together some 5000 power and utility experts from all over the world.
Eskom is again the host utility for this year’s event and the company will have a strong presence in the conference sessions which will cover all aspects of the utility service sector on the continent. Conference tracks include Metering, Renewables, Water, Large Industry, Infrastructure Investment, Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids, Generation and Waste Management.
At last year’s event, the Eskom top executive also chaired the African Utility Week opening session. The event director Claire Volkwyn says Eskom have been a key partner for many years. “We’re very proud of the longstanding relationship we have built up with our national utility over the course of the twelve years that African Utility Week has grown into the industry event.”
She continues: “Eskom’s management understands our drivers and objectives. They understand that we need to increase knowledge, empower our utility sector and encourage information sharing across the continent. Thanks to their support over the years, we continue to gather utilities, regulators and service providers to network, discuss, argue and plan for the future of this continent. It is the only way forward and Eskom does not only play the pivotal role in this country but is a great force in Africa as well.”
