Local Remodeler Named Regional Honoree for Universal Design

Franklin Square, NY, February 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Vita and Jerome Burdi, Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer and Certified Remodeler of DJ's Home Improvements in Franklin Square, have been named Universal Design Project Honorees in the 2012 Regional Contractor of the Year Awards.

Universal design projects must meet strict guidelines of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in order to be qualified for this category in the Contractor of the Year Awards. The remodeling projects submitted to the CotY Awards must include features such as:

- half of all storage space being located less than 48" above the finished floor,

- a U or L-shaped floor plan, and

- clear open space beneath the cooktop and sink

As local winners of the 2011 Contractor of the Year Awards, their Universal Design project went on to judging in Des Plaines, Illinois for the regional awards. DJ's Home Improvements' project was selected over 400 other exemplary projects to receive this award.

Vita and Jerry have been staples of the Franklin Square community for 30 years. As homeowners and business owners for over 21 years in Franklin Square, they are also members of the Franklin Square Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Sons of Italy, National Association of the Remodeling Industry, plus the National Kitchen and Bath Association and awarded Big50 in Remodeling. They are very honored to receive this recognition.
