PETA’s New Foe Is Nut’n Nice
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals takes a swing at the notoriously controversial new sketch comedy film Nut'n Nice for exhibiting alleged animal abuse.
Hollywood, CA, May 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Nut'n Nice sneak-preview happened over the weekend with over 5000 people in attendance throughout the day at the Pacific Theaters in the City of Industry, CA.
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) members found themselves protesting outside the theater and were demanding for Artistic Warfare to ban a part of the Nut’n Nice movie entitled "Bad Dog" from the public. Apparently PETA has received thousands of letters regarding the treatment of animals within the Nut'n Nice film. Nut'n Nice's distributor World Film Magic and its CEO Jose Gonzales stood by the movie's release of August, spite of pressure from PETA and religious leaders that want to cancel the release of the movie all together.
Industry fans of Nut'n Nice like Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarentino, and Pedro Valmen support the film and they feel that Nut'n Nice is not as controversial as people make it seem. "It's very, very funny. Not controversial. Funny", says Valmen.
PETA and religious leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have made it clear that they will use "everything under their power" to stop Nut'n Nice from being released in August.
Director Keu Reyes and the Nut'n Nice cast issued the following statement: "Our intention was not to offend anyone. We just wanted to make people laugh."
Nut'n Nice has won multiple film festival awards and many hardcore fans stand by the project. "We can't please everybody," elaborates Reyes, "...even if the Catholic Church and PETA want to stop us, we will continue our plans along with our distributor, World Film Magic, to release Nut'n Nice this August, and we appreciate all the support that we've been getting from the public.”
Nut'n Nice is scheduled to premiere in Texas and Florida at the end of May, and will continue its premieres in Mexico, Brazil, and Panama in early June.
