Russell Bedford Representative Appointed to IFAC SMP Committee
Abdulwahid Aboo, managing partner of AAC Kenya, has been appointed as a member of the Small and Medium Practices Committee of IFAC.
London, United Kingdom, February 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Abdulwahid Aboo, managing partner of the Russell Bedford network's correspondent firm in Kenya, has been appointed as a member of the Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Mr Aboo is a member of the council, and the immediate past Vice Chairman, of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He was also a founding member of ICPAK’s Audit Quality Assurance committee. He is currently on the KCA University governing council and chairs the university’s finance committee.
Mr Aboo has been in the accounting profession for more than 35 years, establishing his audit firm in 1980. The firm, now rebranded as AAC Kenya, was restructured in 2009, giving the opportunity to two young professionals to become partners. AAC Kenya offers a comprehensive range of professional services including accounting, auditing, tax consulting and compliance, management consulting, corporate finance assistance and investment advice. The firm has been affiliated with the Russell Bedford International network since 2005.
IFAC is the global organization for the accountancy profession. It is comprised of 167 members and associates in 127 countries and jurisdictions, representing approximately 2.5 million accountants in public practice, education, government service, industry, and commerce.
The SMP Committee is charged with identifying and representing the needs of its constituents and, where applicable, to give consideration to relevant issues pertaining to small- and medium-sized entities (SMEs). The constituents of the SMP Committee are small and medium-sized practices (SMPs) who provide accounting, assurance and business advisory services principally, but not exclusively, to clients who are SMEs. The SMP Committee has 18 members from 18 countries.
