Los Angeles, CA, February 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Artis Entertainment announces the nationwide home entertainment release by Vanguard Cinema of The Sabi Company’s critically acclaimed indie drama “Heart of Now” - a film by Sabi. Written and Directed by Zak Forsman (I F*&ing Hate You, Down and Dangerous), this micro-budget contemporary American independent film takes us on a journey through urban and natural desert landscapes, and features a highly charged improvisational style that results in a dramatic and engaging story. Heart of Now has been heralded as “Hugely Impressive” by Twitch Magazine, “Absolutely Gorgeous” by Ain’t it Cool News, and Filmmaker Magazine noted “Forsman’s work is very accomplished… Amazing!”
The journey follows Amber, a beautiful woman with a profound longing for a sense of family who falls into a downward spiral where she confronts her father-figure, and the emotional wounds concealed over a decade ago. They retreat from the city into the vast and barren desert to fully expose their past and discover what it means to truly be in the Heart of Now. Immaculate direction by Zak Forsman, cinematography by Addison Brock III, and stunning performances by Marion Kerr (Golden Earrings) as “Amber” and Kelly McCracken as “Gabe,” with strong supporting performances from Mary Elise Hayden, Jason L. Brandt & Dusty Sorg. Heart of Now is produced by Kevin K. Shah and Zak Forsman and features a contemporary urban soundtrack by Deklun and Airom Bleicher. The DVD includes an in-depth and insightful commentary by editor Jamie Cobb. Quiet Earth calls the film, “A contemplative and visionary winner!”
Heart of Now world premiered at the esteemed DeadCENTER Film Festival and subsequently in several festivals including Fort Meyers Film Festival, Southside Film Festival, New Jersey Film Festival - and most recently a Los Angeles premiere at the 2011 LA United Film Festival. The story of Heart of Now takes place four years before the events of “White Knuckles” directed by Kevin K. Shah, soon to be released on April 24th. Both are "sister-films" that exist in the same world, and share the characters of “Amber” and “Gabe” – and both features were produced at The Sabi Company with distribution. The Sabi Company creates “contemporary and provocative stories for the mass-niche audiences starved for artistic and meaningful films.” The film bears the credit “film by Sabi” to recognize the collaborative nature of the film and the artistic process that brought it to fruition. Released through Vanguard Cinema (“Promoting New Talent in Cinema”) and Artis Entertainment. “Heart of Now” (c) 2012 The Sabi Company. All rights reserved.
