Marietta, GA, February 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- A fun-filled day is promised on Saturday, March 24th when the Cobb Library Foundation hosts the 2nd annual Wild West Fest in the equestrian center at Jim R. Miller Park, Marietta, (2245 Callaway Rd.). The hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. All proceeds are designated to fund programs and services of Cobb County Libraries.
Real cowboys and cowgirls, gunslingers, fast-draw demonstrations by RedDoc Entertainment, and lasso lessons are among the adventures planned. Attendees can listen to cowboy music from The Cartersville Songwriters Exchange, watch a medicine show, and visit Doc Griffin’s Chuckwagon to see how ranch hands cook. There will be over 10 activities repeated throughout the day for kids. Even the Cobb Sheriff’s department will participate with a horse posse parade at 11 a.m.. When guests get thirsty, the Cactus Rose Saloon offers cool lemonade for sale, and pose for photos taken by an authentic 1800s photographer.
Witness sheriff deputies arresting the “bad guys” (local celebrities and community leaders) and taking them to the jail-house on site. This year the “bad guys” being arrested include: Mike Boyce, Tony Britton, Sheila Jones, Mark Mathews, Bob Ott, RJ Patel, Van Pearlberg, Woody Thompson, and Bob Weatherford. The celebrities won’t be released from jail until enough jail bail money is donated – which will also go to help fund the libraries.
As an added benefit, the annual Cobb Library Used Book Sale will be held at an exhibition hall just feet away from the Wild West event at the equestrian center. Patrons might bring a tote bag to easily carry books purchased, then bring that book purchase receipt to the equestrian center to get $1.00 off the Wild West ticket price.
Tickets for the event are $5 per person and children 3-years old and younger get in free. Your purchase receipt is your ticket.
Thanks to WellStar, who is the presenting sponsor of this event. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, or donate “jail bail” for your favorite celebrity “bad guy,” visit: www.CobbLibraryFoundation.org.
