Purdys, NY, March 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Friends of Karen, a children’s charity, has announced that Colleen Noonan has joined as Director of Development. In this newly designed position, she will focus initially on building the Major Gifts and Planned Giving programs.
“I am impressed with what Friends of Karen has achieved,” says Ms. Noonan, “and I’m excited about expanding support for the children and families it helps. Nobody should have to cope with childhood cancer alone.”
Ms. Noonan has two decades of experience managing fundraising programs for not-for-profits. Most recently, she was Vice President of Meridian Philanthropic Partners, which provides consulting services for capital campaigns, annual appeals and grant proposals. Prior to that, she held executive positions in development and fundraising with Cardinal McCloskey Services, CCS Fundraising, and the Archdiocese of New York. She is a member of the Association of Development Officers and of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
“I’m delighted to welcome Colleen as part of our team,” says Judith Factor, Executive Director of Friends of Karen. “She brings a wealth of fundraising experience, and I’m confident she’ll help us to ‘be there’ for every child and family who needs our support.”
Friends of Karen is the only organization that provides emotional, financial and advocacy support to families of a child with cancer or another life-threatening illness, from diagnosis through treatment. Since 1978, we have touched the lives of over 11,800 children in the New York Metro region. With compassion, dedication and expertise, Friends of Karen helps sustain the entire family during an overwhelmingly frightening, confusing and turbulent time.
Friends of Karen serves all qualified families without regard to race, religion, or national origin. For more information, visit www.FriendsOfKaren.org or call 914-617-4040.
