Mansfield, OH, March 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Ultimate Sports Network has increased their number of listeners by over 400% in the month of February, 2012. Before 2012, their previous high was in the month of March 2011. In January of this year that mark was exceeded by 32%, and then shattered by 408% in the month of February.
Started as an outlet to connect with others about their love for sports, the producers of the Ultimate Sports Network initially were hoping to find a few listeners and just talk sports. This network now has listeners not only in their home base of the United States, but also in China, Great Britain, India, The Netherlands, Japan, Canada and others.
The concept of the Ultimate Sports Network began as a two man sports talk show between former roommates Frank Gordon and Charles Farmer. The two initially met as students at The Ohio State University. Mr. Gordon was an undergraduate in the Journalism/Public Relations Department, while Mr. Farmer was completing his Master’s degree in the same area. After college the two realized that their phone conversations closely resembled a sports talk show and they toyed with the idea of one day crafting their own show. When Mr. Gordon moved three time zones away these conversations decreased in frequency, but increased in length. In 2011 they began in earnest to develop a network that would enable them to produce the quality of entertainment that they felt people wanted to hear.
What began as either one or both of the men recording a show, has now evolved into a collaborative effort with several members of the sports world. They delve in to college sports and have enlisted Ron Stokes, The Ohio State University Basketball Radio Network’s Color Analyst to provide insight in to their debates. They talk horse racing with Jim Gluckson, media director for the Breeder’s Cup. They even tackle long distance running with champion marathoner Richard Roberts. Along with varied special guests and their beat writers who cover the sports world more specifically including football writers Mark Harvey (American) and Jonaid Khan (European).
The members of the Ultimate Sports Network live for debate. Currently they are debating which team was the best NCAA Basketball Tournament team for the 32 year span from 1978-1979 through the 2009-2010 seasons. They debate these games matching 64 teams in a bracket format, winner moves on concluding with the final game debated on the Sunday between the actual semifinals and final game of this year’s tournament. And to expand their love for debate they plan on taking the show on the road in the summer of 2012 to a sports bar near you. The hope is to meet more people who love to debate in interesting venues and hear more interesting and varied opinions to make the Ultimate Sports Network even better.
