SILHOUETTES Opens March 3rd, 2012 at Artspace Warehouse
New art exhibition SILHOUETTES opens March 3rd, 2012 at Artspace Warehouse during Miracle Mile’s Artwalk. New figurative series debut from artists Daniel Maltzman, Edith Konrad, Mark Acetelli, Ekaterina Moré and Judy Zimbert among others.
Los Angeles, CA, March 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Barely contained forms, ethereal hues and poetic shapes fuel the imagination in the new show SILHOUETTES opening March 3rd with an artist reception 5-8pm.
The new show opens on during the quarterly Miracle Mile Artwalk. Museums and galleries in the Mid-Wilshire and West Hollywood area all open their doors free on March 3rd. At LACMA a number of new shows are not to be missed: Metropolis II and In Wonderland among others, and the highly anticipated Leviatated Mass. Artspace Warehouse is proudly representing LACMA -exhibited and LACMA fellow, Los Angeles artist Raul de la Torre with new works debuting in Silhouettes.
Daniel Maltzman’s work, an artist for over 15 years, has drawn the attention of global savvy art collectors, including Lee Iacocca, Steve Tisch, The Galen Center, Eugenio Lopez (the Jumex Collection). He is described as “one of those quite rare ‘breakthrough’ artists who is in the process of defining a new vision, a new paradigm, in which you are bringing astute references from the past into a dynamic sensibility of the present, to create a measure of elegance and beauty that I believe has been missing from contemporary art for much too long.”
Edith Konrad paints in a variety of techniques mainly in Switzerland and Italy - particularly oil and acrylic on canvas, collage and mixed media. She won the 2009 Palm Art Award, a Certificate of Excellence for outstanding artistic quality and originality of the work. In 2010 she exhibited at the Salon de la Culture at the Louvres in Paris, France.
Mark Acetelli, born in 1969, lives in Memphis. Mark’s artworks are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever changing complexities of love, loss, birth and death. His latest series is entitled “Absence and Presence,” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. His artworks are a product of continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed.
Ekaterina Moré is a Russian-born artist, with one of the most successful careers in Germany. Ekaterina’s nymph-like figures are a product of fantasy, symbolizing an ideal world and creating a positive diametric to reality, where truly important matters are often left unattended or become displaced by life’s daily struggle: self-confident, attractive women who, just as the artist herself, are masters of their own destiny, women who really know what is good for them. The desire for fondness, tenderness, trust and security, as well as the excitement that one finds in lively, fulfilled eroticism, are some of the greatest human wants. However, Ekaterina has also gone beyond painting and the world of art to broaden her dreams. They can be seen on porcelain cups and plates by Rosenthal Fine China. The elegant cocktail bar of the luxurious Maritim Hotel in Berlin also serves as a setting for the artist’s works.
Judy Zimbert has studied for years in Taos, New Mexico with famed chiaroscuro artist David Leffel, where she began a long examination of German Expressionist Art and incorporated the freshness of contemporary images. This was followed by a series of portraits that helped refine her artistic voice.
Susy Hunziker lives and works in Basel, Switzerland. Her figures are the result of exploring forms, colors and feelings, and reflect a love of life and aesthetics. She creates sculptures from wire and paper. With these materials she tries to express different emotions. The result is sad, cheeky, curious or even frivolous characters.
