SEPI Engineering & Construction Engineer Elected to Board for Society of American Military Engineers

Wilmington, NC, March 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Sepi Asefnia, president of SEPI Engineering & Construction (http://www.sepiengineering.com), a firm which provides civil engineering and planning services to private and public sector clients across the Southeast, has announced that Don Carmen, quality control manager and federal program manager, was elected to the board of directors for the Cape Fear Coast chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). SAME is the premier professional military engineering association in the United States, uniting architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C), facility management and environmental entities and individuals in the public and private sectors to prepare for—and overcome—natural and manmade disasters, and to improve security at home and abroad. As a director, Carmen works to help promote the liaison between military and civilian engineering and help provide educational opportunities for young engineers. He participates in SAME’s meetings, annual events, and educational and training activities, including attending the joint industry meetings that SAME has with federal agencies, such as the Army and Navy.

As quality control manager and federal program manager at SEPI Engineering & Construction, Carmen is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality products and growing the SEPI Federal Sector Program. A native of Wilmington, N.C., Carmen has nearly four decades of experience in the field of civil engineering. He received his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. and spent 37 years as a member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, most recently as the chief of general engineering. Upon retirement from the Corps, Carmen received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award from Gov. Beverly Perdue in recognition of his service to the state. Carmen currently resides in Wilmington with his wife Mary. He has five children and four grandchildren.
