Messiah College Selects Unimarket Cloud eSourcing and eProcurement Solutions to Improve Efficiencies for Campus Users and Reduce College Procurement Costs
Annapolis, MD, March 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Messiah College, ranked in the top ten of US News & World Report’s Best Regional Colleges of the Northeast, and Unimarket, an innovator in collaborative eProcurement and eSourcing solutions for the sector, are excited to announce the signing of an agreement to implement the complete Unimarket solution from eSourcing through eProcurement and eInvoicing. Messiah has been committed to improving administrative and business operations on campus and this initiative supports that mission.
Messiah College, located in Grantham, Pennsylvania and serving nearly 3000 students, is a Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences. The College is committed to an embracing evangelical spirit rooted in the Anabaptist, Pietist and Wesleyan traditions of the Christian Church. The College’s mission is to educate men and women toward maturity of intellect, character and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership and reconciliation in church and society.
Founded in 1909, Messiah is a private, nationally ranked Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences. With both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than undergraduate 55 majors, Messiah College offers a rigorous academic curriculum in a Christian context enhanced by extensive off-campus study, individualized majors, research opportunities, service learning, internships, athletics, and a flourishing College Honors Program.
“We are committed to be as efficient and operationally effective throughout all our business processes,” said David Walker, the College’s Vice President of Finance. He added “eProcurement further advances our ability to better guarantee that our expenditure is directed to the right supplier, at the right time, for the right price.”
Danelle Watson, the Director of Procurement, recently joined Messiah in 2009 and brought her own wide and varied purchasing background to the advantage of the College. Ms. Watson has led several new programs – now eProcurement among them -- to ensure that the educational and Christian mission of the College is underpinned with the necessary materials and services in the most advanced and cost effective means possible.
“We will leverage Unimarket’s networked supplier marketplace and collaborate with other neighboring institutions who often purchase the same products and services. The product also enables all suppliers, large and small, fully automated access to smaller colleges like Messiah resulting in faster, more efficient campus purchasing,” said Watson.
“Messiah College have an innovative and strong administration team who are focused on strategic improvement and key outcomes,” said Scott Blackwood, CEO of Unimarket. “I saw this energy at the recent project kick-off in a cohesive team aligned for success,” added Blackwood.
About Messiah College: Founded in 1909 by the Brethren in Christ Church, the College’s orientation to Christian service is reflected in its first name—Messiah Bible School and Missionary Training Home. Originally located in Harrisburg, the school was moved to Grantham in 1911 following the construction of Old Main. This building is on land donated by the College’s first president, Samuel Rogers Smith, whose house and various business interests were in the village of Grantham. Growth in the student body and in facilities accompanied the growth in the academic program. Contributing to the increase in numbers of students was the College’s policy, declared in its earliest official statements, of welcoming non-Brethren in Christ people as members of the student body. From a first-year total of 12 students, the student body has grown to nearly 2,900, representing more than 60 denominations. Facilities have also increased from one building—Old Main—to a campus of 471 acres, offering students a breadth of well equipped, high-quality academic, co-curricular, and residential facilities.
