Gurlitz Architectural Group Project Named One of Triangle’s Best; Erwin Terrace - “Best Mixed-Use Development”
Durham, NC, May 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- A project by Gurlitz Architectural Group, a Triangle-based full service architectural firm, has been named as recipient of the Champion Award for “Best Mixed-Use Development” by “Space – Commercial Real Estate Quarterly.” The project, Erwin Terrace, was recognized for its innovative integration of “live, work and play” elements into Durham’s urban core.
“We are pleased that this project has been recognized for excellence by our peers,” said Richard Gurlitz, Principal-in-Charge at Gurlitz Architectural Group. “At Gurlitz Architectural Group, we try to combine the aesthetic experience with the practical requirements of the building’s purpose. Integrating the complexity of an urban environment into the design, and creating an exciting public area, is what we believe makes the mixed use components at Erwin Terrace successful.”
Erwin Terrace is located on Erwin Road in the heart of Durham and is a mix of residential, retail, restaurant, office space and underground parking. It is directly adjacent to Duke University’s Hospital Campus and will house office space for both the University and the Medical Center.
The project also received a merit award for design excellence from the Durham Appearance Commission, resulting from the careful integration of the project into the existing site.
