Atlanta's Peggy Still School of Music Announces Construction of New Recording Studio
Alpharetta facility will offer studio-related education and training, as well as a full suite of recording and production capabilities and services to students and the community
Atlanta, GA, March 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Peggy Still School of Music announced today that it has begun construction of a new 1,200 square foot recording studio at the intersection of Northfall Lane and GA Highway 9 just south of downtown Alpharetta, GA.
The studio will feature Pro Tools 10 with a C|24 control surface with 24 touch-sensitive faders, 16 preamps, talkback mic, and 5.1 monitoring section. The studio’s tracking room will also feature live and fully mic’d drums, as well as a Baldwin baby grand piano supplied Atlanta’s Cooper Piano.
“The studio will be a tremendous asset not only for our School, but for the entire community,” said Peggy Still owner and president Brian Johnson. “Our students will be able to both learn about and work in a state-of-the-art recording studio environment with their existing music teachers rather than try and find a good fit for those kinds of needs elsewhere in the metro Atlanta area. And the studio will be a great place for people from outside our current student body to learn, record, produce and practice music in a professionally equipped, acoustically superior facility. We are thrilled to add these exciting capabilities to our School.”
The School will announce a complete menu of studio services, including summer camps, in April 2012.
Joe Kay of Got My Groove Productions is acting as technical advisor to the School throughout the project. Joe was co-owner of Faultline Studios in California (www.faultinestudios.com) for six years, where artists such as Michael Franti, Joan Baez, and Neal Schon (Journey) have recorded. Joe also enjoyed seven years as an employee of Digidesign (now Avid), creator of the industry-standard production platform Pro Tools. He was involved in the development of Pro Tools HD and ICON, both game-changing products in the industry. Joe Kay is a certified Avid Pro Tools Expert, Avid ICON Expert, and participating member of the Audio Engineers Society (AES).
The new recording studio will be located in the same business park as the school’s Alpharetta music lessons studio.
