Youth Group at Shir Ha-Ma’alot Temple Receive Training from Krav Maga Orange County

Krav Maga Orange County gives introductory self-defense lessons and intro to F.A.S.T. to teens at Shir Ha-Ma’a lot Temple in Irvine

Irvine, CA, March 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Continuing its commitment to serving the community, Krav Maga of Orange County (KMOC) trained the youth group at Shir Ha-Ma’alot in Level 1 self-defense and an introduction to Fear Adrenaline Stress Training, or F.A.S.T. Approximately 30 9th-12th grade students participated and said that it was the best introduction to self-defense they’ve had.

As part of their every other week Saturday night event, the Youth program invited KMOC to give an introductory course to the students at Shir Ha-Ma’alot Temple in Irvine. The Jewish temple was founded in 1968 and met in homes of members and shared facilities until moving to their current facility, a renovated athletic club, in 1994. The congregation adopted its name in memory of the massacre of teenagers in Ma’alot, Israel.

Continuing the tradition of dedication to Shir Ha-Ma’alot’s teens, the temple called upon KMOC staff to teach an introduction to Krav Maga. The class was a surprise for students who said the class was, “really, really fun” and that instructor Yuri Boiarsky “seemed really experienced, he was fun and really knew what he was doing.”

Student’s learned basic fight stance and simple punches, kicks, and other strikes. Also, KMOC incorporated elements of the F.A.S.T. which teaches students to recognize the warning signs of an attack, avoid threatening situations before they become dangerous, avoid physical confrontation by not looking like a victim, use verbal skills to diffuse situations before they become violent, and it trains individuals to protect themselves in hours, not years, if conflict becomes unavoidable. KMOC instructors took the same principals of the FAST program and tailored them to the needs of teenagers and emphasized how they should recognize and respond when unknown adults are acting in an unsafe or threatening manner.

Krav Maga Orange County has been providing quality training in Southern California since 1992 and has taught thousands of individuals throughout Orange County. The KMOC instructor staff has over 130 years of combined teaching experience in Krav Maga and our program is the only one with six Black Belt Level Instructors in the County. Our mission is to provide the highest level of training to our students by teaching the most current techniques for real life situations and field scenarios.
