Cactus Botanics Leads in Drafting Quality Standards for Fucoidan Content

Shanghai, China, August 29, 2005 --(PR.com)-- In order to satisfy customers' various requirements, Cactus Botanics Limited, in cooperation with its Chinese manufacturing operations, has enriched the specifications of Seaweed Extract, of which the active ingredient is Fucoidan.

Experimental results of many researchers demonstrated that crude fucoidan and purified fucoidan from Laminaria japonica both had many physiological functions, such as Lowers blood sugar, hypolipidemic effect, antitumor, antivirus, antioxidation, antimutation and so on.

The main specifications of Seaweed Extract in Cactus Botanics are as follows-

Crude Seaweed Extract Food Grade

Brown Seaweed Extract (Fucoidan 4%, Alginates 50%)

Brown Seaweed Extract (Fucoidan 70%) 

These three specifications are with different costs and then used in different fields.

Dr. Zhang of Cactus Botanics Limited recently participated in a meeting, along with Dr. Song, a member of the Chinese Academy of Science, where discussions were held to determine manufacturing standards for the production and testing of Fucoidan to determine its quality.

All parties present agreed on a draft Quality Control document, which is currently under careful translation into English. When complete, the document will be available upon request to Cactus Botanicals' international customers to allow them to choose their source of material appropriately.
