New professional theatre music revue at Old Town Commons, Ottawa IL
Ottawa, IL, May 24, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Old Town Commons of Ottawa, formerly Court Street Cabaret, is proud to present a new partnership with The November Ten, a New York-based, professional theater production company. From Friday, May 25th through Sunday, July 15th, Old Town Commons will welcome a new show when they host The November Ten’s production of A Blast from the Past: A 50’s and 60’s Rock n’ Roll Revue.
The November Ten is the theater company that presents Festival 56, Illinois’ Largest Summer Theater Festival, in Princeton each summer. It is comprised of many of the most talented and energetic artists working in theater today. Primarily from New York City, the artists of The November Ten have come to Princeton to live and work each of the last three summers, presenting six Broadway-caliber productions in three different theaters over a span of five weeks. With this brand new arrangement with Old Town Commons, theater-lovers from Ottawa and the surrounding areas will be able to enjoy the talent of November Ten performers in the cozy and sophisticated atmosphere offered by Old Town Commons.
The November Ten was organized in 2003 by a group of New York theater artists and in the last four years has produced over 40 plays and musicals ranging from free, outdoor productions of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night Dream, Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet to classic Broadway standards such as Brigadoon, Oklahoma and Chicago and other masterworks such as Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie and Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. Upcoming projects for the summer of 2007 include Little Shop of Horrors, Once Upon a Mattress and many others.
Dexter Brigham, Executive Artistic Director of The November Ten, enjoyed a successful performing career before heading up The November Ten and Festival 56. Highlights of his career include the title role in the Off-Broadway revival of The Robber Bridegroom, Fred in the 2003-4 Broadway national tour of Kiss Me, Kate and Dewhurst in the 2001-2 Broadway national tour of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Other members of The November Ten are currently involved in important projects around the country. Laura Brigham, casting director for Festival 56, is currently touring with the Broadway tour of The Man of La Mancha. Jason Simon, a company member, is currently starring as Max Bialystock on the national tour of The Producers.
A Blast From the Past is an all-singing, all-dancing stroll down memory lane with everyone’s favorite songs of the era, including “Rockin’ Robin”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Baby Love”, “My Boyfriend’s Back”, “It’s My Party”, “Twist and Shout” and over 30 more hits from the era of beehive hairdo’s, poodle skirts and soda shops. It’s both a fun-filled evening for the family and a romantic return to the soundtrack of first dates.
