Flutter Forever to Host the 2nd Annual Bridget McGrath Memorial Walk/Run

United Charitable Programs is the fiscal sponsor of Flutter Forever, a program established to celebrate the life of Bridget McGrath by awarding financial scholarships to nursing school students.

Crabtree, PA, March 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Bridget McGrath was just 28 when she was killed in a tragic automobile accident in 2010. She had just graduated from the Westmoreland County Community College, PA nursing program only six weeks prior.

“Bridget would do anything for anybody. She absolutely loved nursing and her patients. Her heartfelt concern for others and her ever-present smile touched a multitude of people,” said Aimee Shultz, one of four friends who established Flutter Forever, a fiscally sponsored program at United Charitable Programs (UCP).

The four friends – Shultz, Jen Falo, Valerie DeMichele and Joline Keeler were schoolmates with McGrath, graduating from Hempfield Area High School in the same year – 2000. “We’d all been friends since grade school. After losing Bridget, one of our closest friends, it was our mission to keep her memory alive.”

Her memory has indeed been honored with the establishment of a charitable program called Flutter Forever at UCP, using the butterfly as its logo. The inspiration came from Bridget's love for butterflies. Flutter Forever found the following anonymous poem extremely fitting to Bridget's personality as well as to their programs' mission to keep her memory alive:

A butterfly captures our hearts from the moment they appear. They are vibrant and graceful as their presence lifts our spirits. Gone much too soon, they will never be forgotten.

“I will forever be grateful to have known Bridget, for the friendship we shared, and for the love that she gave,” said Jen Falo. “Bridget will forever live in my heart. We should all be thankful and proud that we were given the chance to have known her.”

To raise funds for the Bridget McGrath Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Flutter Forever is holding a walk/run on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Twin Lakes Park Activity Center. You can register online no later than April 1 at http://bit.ly/w3tvtf.

Flutter Forever is located in Crabtree, Pennsylvania. Its mission is to celebrate and commemorate the life of Bridget McGrath and to contribute monetarily to the Bridget McGrath Memorial Nursing Scholarship, established through the Westmoreland County Community College Education Foundation. All donations to Flutter Forever are tax-deductible.
