PCBMotor Signs Development Agreement with Large Chinese Telecom Company
PCBMotor announced recently it has signed a strategic agreement with a large telecommunication network equipment provider in China, to deliver a solution with PCBMotor’s high resolution piezo motors. The agreement covers the design and prototype development of their motor technology (the PCBMotor) into certain product lines of the company's telecommunication equipment and the delivery of piezoceramic components for production.
Hillerod, Denmark, March 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- PCBMotor announced recently it has signed a strategic agreement with a large Chinese telecommunication network equipment provider to deliver a solution with PCBMotor’s high resolution piezo motors.
The agreement covers the design and prototype development of their motor technology (the PCBMotor) into certain product lines of their telecommunication equipment and the delivery of piezoceramic components for production.
PCBMotor concluded a technology workshop in early 2012, in Denmark, for an engineering team from Shenzheng in building applications with PCBMotors.
An Innovative Solution
“They needed an application that matched our technology perfectly. And once we learned their focus was an integrated, high resolution solution that could be efficiently produced, we knew we could help,” says Henrik Staehr-Olsen, CEO of PCBMotor ApS.
PCBMotor’s design and fast prototyping skills were immediately put to the test. “We had to develop a prototype to solve extremely challenging design and mechanical movement requirements,” explains Henrik. “Saving time was our main priority. So we utilized our own environment to come up with the first prototype,” adds Henrik.
The company’s technology is a combination of two existing technologies – the piezoelectric motor and the print circuit board – which results in thinner, lighter motors that can be mounted directly into an application and reduces assembly time and costs.
From Shenzheng To Copenhagen
PCBMotor and their Chinese partners have been working together for the past few years, when the first fully-functional prototype was delivered. And recently, just nine days into the New Year early 2012, a team of engineers arrived from China to attend a technology training workshop at PCBMotor’s offices in Hillerod.
“We were thrilled with the high level of involvement and eagerness of their engineering team. The course was tough and covered an enormous amount of theoretical and practical information,” says Eivind Johansen, CTO of PCBMotor. “What was impressive was the skills of their engineers and their approach to problem solving. We’re very excited about their application and how it will benefit their position in the telco industry,” adds Eivind.
About PCBMotor
Based in North Zealand, Denmark, PCBMotor’s patented technology integrates highly-accurate piezoelectric motors mounted directly onto a printed circuit board. Their award-winning innovation significantly reduces manufacturing costs and introduces a host of new design possibilities while using standardized components and well-established assembly techniques.
PCBMotor sell their technology and engineering services to precision motion control application developers in industries spanning automotive, cameras and lenses, optics and lasers to healthcare and telecommunications.
The newly-signed agreement is yet another milestone for the Danish piezo motor company who has been busy expanding their prototyping environments since taking first place at the coveted EETimes’ ACE Award (Annual Creativity in Electronics) in 2010.
EETimes’ annual awards acknowledge innovators and leaders in the global electronics industry, and means that PCBMotor now sits alongside Apple's iPad Development Team as winners of the Editor’s Choice category in 2011.
