M&D Wins National Excellence in Construction Award for NASA Project
Decatur, AL, March 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- M&D Mechanical Contractors, Inc. has been awarded a national Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for the company's work on the NASA Construct Replacement Building 4602 at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The company was awarded the Eagle Award in the Mechanical-Commercial-$2-10 Million category of ABC's Excellence in Construction Awards.

For the NASA Building 4602 project, M&D Mechanical Contractors filled the second story of this 83,000-square-foot LEED Silver office and laboratory building with custom built air handling units, including one measuring 46 feet long and 15 feet high. The project included a divided HVAC system for the general office area and lab spaces, a heating hot water system that utilizes heat exchangers, and a chilled water system. Other systems in the building included a 3500 psi missile grade air system, a 150 psi missile grade air system, liquid and gaseous nitrogen, a gaseous argon system, and a process chilled water system that is served by a 40 ton air cooled chiller.
