Sompo Japan Selected as One of the Ethisphere 2012 World’s Most Ethical Companies
Tokyo, Japan, March 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. (President and CEO: Kengo Sakurada; hereinafter, "Sompo Japan") was selected as one of the Ethisphere 2012 World's Most Ethical Companies as announced on March 15, 2012. This marks the second consecutive year and third time overall Sompo Japan has received this distinction.
1. Ethisphere World's Most Ethical Companies
The Ethisphere Institute, an international think-tank based in the United States dedicated to business ethics and corporate social responsibility, each year performs research as part of its effort to share best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability. Each year Ethisphere selects companies that actively incorporated ethics into business practices in an ever-changing global regulatory environment among companies nominated from more than 100 countries and 36 industries. This year marks the sixth such selection.
In 2012, a total of 145 companies were selected to be honored as the World's Most Ethical Companies based on an evaluation of their guidelines on business ethics, history of litigation or regulatory violations, investments in innovation and sustainable business practices, activities as a corporate citizen as well as analysis from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.

2. Sompo Japan's Award
Sompo Japan was recognized as a company that is demonstrating leadership in ethical business practices based on research performed at multiple stages, including responses to questionnaires created by the Institute. The World's Most Ethical Companies Honoree Dinner was held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 and was attended by Hiroyuki Yamaguchi, President & CEO of Sompo Japan Insurance Company of America, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Sompo Japan in the United States.
Going forward, Sompo Japan will continue to look one-step ahead when it comes to addressing sustainability challenges through its business strategy as well as acting in a fair and honest manner based on highly-esteemed ethics and rational decision making.
