More Than Romantic Fuzzies: Author Sonja Foust Tackles Racial Issues in Short Romantic Fantasy ‘Love In Shadow’

Author Sonja Foust Tackles Racial Issues in Short Romantic Fantasy ‘Love In Shadow’

Durham, NC, May 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Not just a short read that will leave you with a warm feeling; “Love In Shadow” tackles the larger issue of prejudice within its sweet romantic plot. Sonja Foust, who resides in Durham, North Carolina—home of the now infamous Duke Lacrosse case—steps away from the real world to illuminate prejudice in a less complicated fantasy world.

The Duke Lacrosse case pitted three white Duke Lacrosse players against a black exotic dancer from neighboring historically black NC Central University. “The fantasy setting gives a little bit of distance from the actual situations and lets you think about the issues themselves without all the baggage from the specifics. It's a great vehicle for expanding your universe to include ideas you might not have thought of if they hadn't been presented in such a clean, unattached way,” says Foust.

Sonja Foust, a UNC Chapel Hill alumna with a degree in English, has been an aspiring author for almost three years. She is a member of the Romance Writers of America (RWA) as well as the Heart of Carolina Romance Writers local Raleigh chapter of RWA. “Love In Shadow” is Foust’s first published work.
