Religion Communicators Council Reaches Out
The Religion Communicators Council hold monthly programs to increase PR and communications skills. This month, Nashville’s chapter heard from a PR man with over 20 years of experience.
Nashville, TN, March 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Meeting at the United Methodist Communications building on 12th Avenue South, the Nashville chapter of the Religion Communicators Council (RCC) discovered how to branch out and skillfully use PR techniques in their religious work. Peter Woolfolk, an expert PR man with 20 years experience discussed communications and PR strategies that any religious communicator could instantly use in her work.
“Be bold, show leadership and speak up about current news and events happening in your congregations,” was one such tip.
Woolfolk is the President and CEO of Communications Strategies. He previously worked in the administration of president Bill Clinton and has been press secretary for three members of Congress. He has hosted three public affairs radio shows and has produced a television show. His current goal is to build a successful, respectable public relations firm in Nashville and to make meaningful contributions to the community. As a result of his work in Nashville, he has won several awards from the Public Relations Society of America.
Rev. Brian Fesler who is President of the local chapter was thrilled to have Woolfolk attend, “This is exactly the kind of program we need more of – where we gain tools to help us in our religious communications work.”
Woolfolk gave other PR tips, such as: use word of mouth by spreading the word to your connections, have high level speakers at your events, know your audience, and when writing a news release, tell the whole story in the headline and others.
The RCC is open to members from all denominations, and the Nashville group includes Baha’is, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Scientologists, and more. For further information about the RCC or their next meeting, visit www.religioncommunicators.org.
