SOS Children’s Villages Joins Austin Grill to Promote the Johnny Cash Film, "Walk the Line"
Movie promotion builds awareness for orphaned and abandoned children around the world. Austin Grill in Silver Spring, MD, November 10th from 6-8pm.
Washington, DC, November 09, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Many know Johnny Cash as the “Man in Black”, a legendary country singer-songwriter, but true fans of Johnny Cash also know him as a humanitarian and avid supporter of SOS Children’s Villages, an international child welfare organization that builds families for orphaned or abandoned children.
This Thursday, November 10th, representatives from SOS Children’s Villages will be at Austin Grill in Silver Spring, MD from 6-8pm, along with representatives from 20th Century Fox Pictures, to raise awareness for SOS, and pass out tee shirts and information. The Johnny Cash Memorial Fund was set up in his memory, after his death in 2003, to help SOS continue their work for children around the world.
Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, became aware of SOS Children’s Villages in 1972, when they helped finance the construction of the SOS Village in Barrett Town, Jamaica, near their home. They spent a lot of time at the village visiting and playing guitar for the children. Upon Mr. Cash’s death in 2003, the family asked that donations be made to SOS Children’s Villages. Today, the Cash family is still involved with SOS and Roseanne Cash acts as a spokesperson for SOS-USA.
