Apple Auto Sales to Open in Wallingford, Connecticut

Wallingford, CT, April 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Apple Auto Sales will formally open on or about May 1, 2012. The dealership will feature a full array of quality used vehicles both domestic and imported at its location at 856 No. Colony Road in Wallingford, Connecticut.
Both Jim Dickson and Hallan Iff are experienced professionals in the auto industry. Jim spent many years as a manager for New Country Auto. Hallan Iff's experiences include being sales manager at Key Auto Group, New Country Auto and Infiniti of Greenwich.
Daniel Merriam is the son of Larry Merriam and the grandson of Sam Merriam who is the founder of Merriam Motors.
Merriam Motors was founded in Wallingford in 1955 and operated continuously until 2008. The dealership sold Lincoln and Mercury vehicles and ended its business operations because Mercury was phased out by Ford Motor Company. There are currently only 3 Lincoln dealers in Connecticut all located in the major cities.
Larry Merriam, who is retired, is acting as an advisor to the new company.
"We picked the name Apple Auto Sales because when my father started in business in Wallingford the property he purchased on Route 5 consisted of mainly apple orchards. The original property was purchased from the Barnes family who were prominent apple farmers at the time," said Larry Merriam.
"I am proud that my son Danny will be continuing in the family tradition. Merriam Motors was a terrific business that operated with one simple premise; treat others as you would like to be treated. The dealership thrived for many years. I ran the business starting in 1968. Over the years we sold more than 75,000 cars to residents throughout the State of Connecticut. I am very pleased and proud that my son will be continuing our family heritage in the auto industry.
"In my role as an advisor to Jim, Hallan and Dan, I will occasionally be at the dealership and I look forward to seeing a lot of old friends. My father's business motto was 'every time a car is sold a friend is made' and he stuck to it. My father is now 95 years old and is still revered and respected by a lot of people who knew him in business."
