Pale is Chic
South Shore Skin Center dermatology office launches new anti-tanning campaign and contest.
Cohasset, MA, May 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Do your friends refer to you as “Casper”? Are you invisible when standing next to a light background?
Now that the warm weather is here, many folks have begun to frequent tanning salons and are already spending more time outside in the sun “working on their tans”.
With that in mind, the dermatologists at South Shore Skin Center, one of Massachusetts’ most innovative dermatology practices offering a wide range of medical, surgical and cosmetic services to a vast clientele south of Boston, have launched a “Pale is Chic” campaign to encourage teens and adults to adopt a “sun wise” attitude and forego the tanning - for good health.
“Obtaining the ‘healthy glow’ of a tan is a misnomer. There is nothing healthy about exposing the skin to UVA and UVB rays from the sun or from a tanning booth in order to obtain a tan,” explained Richard Eisen, MD, a dermatologist at South Shore Skin Center.
According to Dr. Eisen, UVA and UVB rays from the sun or from tanning booths cause premature wrinkles as well as skin cancer with repeated and prolonged exposure. In natural sunlight, these rays are present even on cloudy days and exposed skin is left vulnerable without sunblock or sunscreen.
South Shore Skin Center will hold a “Pale is Chic” contest throughout June and July and will award three winning contestants with gift bags of the highest quality dermatologist tested and approved skin care products available – valued at $100.
To enter, contestants must submit one facial photo along with a brief 100-200 word paragraph describing the dangers of tanning and why they believe “Pale is Chic”. All entries must include a name, telephone number and/or email address.
Submissions may be emailed to sdubin@prworkzone.com with “Pale is Chic” in the subject line OR sent via regular mail to: Pale is Chic Contest, South Shore Skin Center, 223 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Suite 202, Cohasset, MA 02025.
Contest ends July 30, 2007. Winners of the “Pale is Chic” contest will be notified by August 20th via email and telephone.
