All Points Logistics LLC Selected as Major Subcontractor on the Missile Defense Agency's Ground-Based Midcourse Defense Development and Sustainment Contract
Merritt Island, FL, April 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- All Points Logistics, LLC (APL) has been selected as major subcontractor to The Boeing Company’s Defense, Space & Security unit on the Missile Defense Agency’s Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC).
APL has been privileged to have been partners with Boeing in support of the Missile Defense Agency’s GMD Element throughout its development and deployment. “We’re excited for this opportunity to build on the experience gained from supporting the GMD program since 2001,” said Phil Monkress, APL CEO/President. “APL has unmatched GMD experience and will bring that experience forward to ensure and enhance future performance on this vital defense contract.”
The GMD Weapon System is an Element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) consisting of complex system of systems that provides the nation’s defense against intermediate and long-range ballistic missile threats. The GMD system utilizes multiple sensors, communications systems, fire control capabilities, and Ground Based Interceptors (GBIs) capable of detecting, tracking and destroying intermediate and long-range ballistic missiles during the midcourse phase of flight. Once detected, the interceptor kill vehicle uses kinetic energy from a direct hit on the incoming Reentry Vehicle (RV) to destroy it.
APL and Boeing share a history of partnership. APL is a three-time recipient of Boeing’s Silver level Performance Excellence Award for performance in 2007, 2008, and most recently in 2011. The award is issued annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance.
A unit of The Boeing Company, Boeing Defense, Space & Security is one of the world's largest defense, space and security businesses specializing in innovative and capabilities-driven customer solutions, and the world's largest and most versatile manufacturer of military aircraft. Headquartered in St. Louis, Boeing Defense, Space & Security is a $32 billion business with 62,000 employees worldwide.
All Points Logistics is a verified service-disabled veteran-owned, small disadvantaged business with approximately 100 employees. Headquartered in Merritt Island, Florida, with satellite offices in Orlando, Florida, Springfield, Virginia, Atlanta, Georgia and Huntsville, Alabama, APL has four primary lines of business: Integrated Logistics, Information Technology, Facilities and Environmental Management, and Professional, Engineering and Technical Support.
