San Diego, CA, April 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The San Diego County Medical Society Foundation (SDCMSF) will host “¡Héroes de la Salud!” (Heroes of Health), the inaugural friend and fund raiser featuring multiple Grammy Award-winning Latin Rock band “Los Lobos” on Thursday, April 19th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Anthology, located in Little Italy at 1337 India Street. Chaired jointly by Dr. Ramin Raiszadeh and Dr. Gwendolyn Henao, and Dr. Suman and Julie Sinha, the event proceeds will benefit the SDCMSF Project Access San Diego program and honor the foundation’s healthcare partners. In addition to the performance by Los Lobos, the evening’s festivities will offer food, beverages and a raffle, which includes as of this writing: Del Mar Turf Club tickets, overnight accommodations in Palm Springs and Padres tickets. Tickets are limited and may be purchased online for $100 per person ($50 tax deductible) at http://www.sdcmsf.org.
According to SDCMSF Executive Director Barbara Mandel, “This is our first-ever event of this kind and we’re very excited that Los Lobos was available for this engagement --- it will be a fun and entertaining evening. Los Lobos may be best known for their 1987 title track on the feature film recording for La Bamba, which became a number one single in the U.S., earning a platinum record for the band. We’re also honored that the President of the California Medical Association, Dr. James Hay, will be in attendance to help us launch our inaugural event to benefit a program that brings medical relief to hundreds of low-income San Diegans annually.” Primary sponsors of the event are Bob DeSimone of The Doctors Insurance Agency, Molina Healthcare, AKT, Care Minders Home Care and Compass.
Now in its fourth year, Project Access San Diego provides free medical care to uninsured San Diego residents that facilitate their transition back into the workforce after suffering from a debilitating medical condition. Hundreds of physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers from SDCMSF healthcare partners (full list of partners located at http://sdcmsf.org/healthcare-partners) contribute their time and talent to Surgery Day medical events under the Project Access San Diego program.
