Neal Communities Sponsors Student Trip to Nation's Capital
Educational Consultants Consortium of Palmetto, FL Tours D.C.
Bradenton, FL, April 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Neal Communities has contributed $2,500 to the Educational Consultants Consortium in Palmetto to help with the non-profit’s work with Manatee County students. The group strives to bridge the gap between home and school and works directly with at-risk families. The Palmetto facility focuses on tutoring, enrichment, and educational excellence. The trip to Washington, D.C. was designed to both inspire and educate the students that attended.
“Neal Communities is dedicated to supporting our children and our community,” stated Neal Communities’ President, Pat Neal. “Education is the key for all young people. It gives them the tools to create a future where they can make significant contributions. Educational Consultants Consortium makes this a reality for its students.”
The non-profit took 35 students to Washington, D.C. over spring vacation. “Our goal was to expose these children to other avenues for their lives and careers,” explained E.C.C.’s Executive Director, Barbara Harvey. “Many of our students and parents don’t travel more than 20 miles from Palmetto during their lifetimes. We want them to know there is a world beyond Palmetto and that there are individuals that desire to help them succeed.”
Educational Consultants Consortium, located in Palmetto, has been serving the community for 16 years. It is primarily run by volunteers, including Harvey. The group provides tutorial assistance, anger management classes, crime prevention services, and career-focused programs. In order to participate, the students must remain drug and crime-free.
“We have students who have been through our program, gone to college, and are back serving our community,” said Harvey. “We are making a difference!”
Neal Communities is recognized for its philanthropy in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The company’s president, Pat Neal, has received the Legislative Service Award, the Audubon Society Legislative Award, the Award for Meritorious Public Service, The Lakewood Ranch Community Fund Humanitarian of the Year award, and many other awards and recognition for service and philanthropy.
