Portland, OR, April 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Portland-based creative brand agency Sockeye was recognized with 8 wins at the first-annual Oregon ADDY Awards, including Best in Show for its national, mixed-media “Re-Boot” campaign for client KEEN Utility. An additional 4 Gold ADDYs were awarded for Sockeye’s work for University of Oregon, Metro, and Ruby Receptionists, as well as for the agency’s own self-promotion brand book. Sockeye also received recognition for its “Derrick Rose MVP” TV spot for adidas, an additional TV spot for adidas and Dick's Sporting Goods, and its KEEN Utility Sales Kit.
“These awards recognize a wide variety of work, including broadcast ads, viral video, print and outdoor, social media campaign tie-ins, interactive…the list goes on,” said Sockeye President Andy Fraser. “It shows how fortunate we are to have clients willing to let us bring big ideas to the table, and to tap the full range of creative resources we have to offer.”
The work will move on to be judged in the NW ADDY Competition in Seattle, alongside statewide winners from Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. From there, winners will compete at the national ADDY competition in Austin, Texas, on June 5. This marks the first year the American Ad Federation’s ADDY competition has been open to agencies across the entire state.
“A statewide competition is necessary to show the true scope of work being developed here,” said AdFed President Molly Renner. “Sockeye represents the rich, national-level creative that’s coming out of Portland – and integrating Oregon’s largest metropolitan areas also increases the opportunity to showcase work being done for the state’s top businesses and organizations.”
Winning the Best in Show award, the “Project Re-Boot” campaign focused on using a fresh approach for the launch of the KEEN Utility brand into the utility footwear market – one known for both brand loyalty and traditional advertising. "Project Re-Boot" showed a different side of America’s industrial workforce, showcasing worker’s personal stories and their optimism about a better future.
The “Project Re-Boot” road show visited three sites: TradeWind Energy, Salina, KS; the Ford River Rouge Complex, Dearborn, MI (largest extensive living roof in North America); and a dam removal project on the Elwha River in WA. KEEN and Sockeye outfitted crews with their own pair of boots, then let them tell their story. Video was shared on KEEN’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Photography of the workers was used for billboards and transit media in select locations, online banners, and trade print.
