Gospel Music Record Promoter Reinvents Himself
Brooklyn, NY, April 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- With household names in the music industry mostly consisting of the artists performing on the records, the promoters of their albums are usually unsung heroes with names that are rarely recognized by anyone outside of the industry. The Gospel music industry is perhaps one of the smallest groups of artists in the market, but a popular record promoter is pushing his clients to the top of the charts with his industry knowledge and marketing expertise.
Michael Soward is the founder and President of Powar Sounds LLC, a New York based record promotion and marketing company which strives to find new approaches to reach their target market and increase musical opportunities for their clients. Michael isn’t the typical promoter in a typical industry. His life experiences and love of music has pushed him to learn more about his industry. When asked about his launch into a successful career as a record promoter, Michael responded, “As long as I can remember, I’ve always had a burning desire and love for the Record Industry. When kids were outside playing, I would be in the house reading album covers, trying to remember the names of key players, writers, producers, and artists in the industry.”
This passion has translated into a successful career for not only Michael Soward, but his clients as well. He has served as Vice President National Promotions for Redemption Records, as well as serving as Manager of Promotion and Sales for Harmony Records, a division of Sony Records, New York. His clients, such as Reverend Jessy Dixon, have seen their records soar to the top.
Soward recalls promoting Reverend Dixon’s CD, “With a mere $200.00 and a daybed I began hammering the phones and mailing out the initial stock of 90 CD’s to promote Reverend Dixon. The initial 90 CDs were mailed to key movers and shakers nationwide. It wasn’t to long before we learned that Reverend Dixon’s CD 'We Give You Praise' became one of the hottest Gospel songs in the nation. I was clearly stunned and excited! Persistence had rewarded me in a very big way! And I knew I had found my calling!”
Michael continues to build careers and records in the Gospel industry through his persistence and industry knowledge.
