Specifications for Bika II and ISO 17025 Accreditation Released on the Bika Sourceforge Website

Cape Town, South Africa, November 10, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Bika II New functional specifications have been released for discussion at the Bika community site. The design has been completed in consultation with and is sponsored by Quantum Analytical Services The functional design and use case document features an integrated html wireframe model and includes new Micro-Biological analysis, Hygiene survey, Quoting, Client specification and Template modules to illustrate and develop these workflows with.

Bika and ISO 1025 Accreditation: A 2005 version of of the ISO/IEC standard 17025 'General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories' has been published in May. With no changes to technical requirements. A document has been posted at the Bika SourceForge community site, inviting discussion towards a simple LIMS extract acceptable internationally Web based models present security challenges and current Bika measures improve on the ISO specification in many aspects but some elements need to be elaborated The ISO 17025 Accreditation Specifications can be found at: http://bika.sourceforge.net/accreditation/index.htm

Only functionality additional to that already available in Bika is discussed. The current system is described in the Laboratory Manual available for download at http://www.bikalabs.com.
